Citizen scientists discover new frogs, monitor health of environment with simple phone app

 Scientist Jodi Rowley found her "Prince Charmings" on a field trip – she fell in love with frogs and has dedicated her life to the amphibians.

Dr Rowley, from the University of New South Wales, heads the Australian Museum's FrogID project that encourages citizen scientists to record frog calls on their mobile phones so they can be added to a national database.

"Every species of frog has a unique call that you can tell apart from all the roughly 240 species of frogs in Australia," Dr Rowley said.
